Meet IxCacao.
In some contemporary cacao circles, IxCacao is spoken of as a feminine spirit of cacao—an invitation to generosity, warmth and connection. Maya communities and traditions are diverse, and the historical record does not establish one single IxCacao legend shared by all Maya peoples.
In the contemporary reflection we share at Seiri, IxCacao places a cacao seed in human hands as a reminder that care grows through patience: a tree is tended, a fruit is opened, a drink is prepared and, at last, a cup is shared. The story invites us to listen, give thanks and notice what we bring into the circle.
This is a modern ceremonial retelling, not a translation of a verified ancient Maya text or a claim that one story represents every Maya tradition. We approach the living cultures of Belize with humility and respect.
